growin up and skateboarding in the later part of the 80s one couldnt help but notice the 8"diameter OJII stickers on all the big name ripping skaters boards. it was a symbol of sorts for a young kid rolling around his small midwestern town. wondering when he will get his first taste of freedom and watching those california waves crash at sunset. fast forward 17 years and a million miles, im in a van with alex horn and the rest of the creature team headed south to portland after a week on orcas island. standing in line at a grocery store behind alex as hes harassing the cashier lady about the town name. whats this towns name? where are we? her reply... tillicum washington, your south of tacoma, she said with a smirk of, i know what youre doing. i laughed and shook my head, he turned and looked at me and simply asked. do you want to ride for oj? it was on. i couldnt have been happier... and those oj stickers i grew up with were now something i was part of... youth gone wild... i got delt a shitty hand and you know the rest... so, i saw this on the thrasher site today.... jason rips, he always has and always will... stoked..
