my good friend,
nathan, was riding back from the dice party in los angeles or wherever it was out west and got what we call speed wobble in the skateboard world. similar to tank slap in the motogp/bike world... apparently, between the big rig rutted lanes and pothole infested freeways he lost control of his newly built scoot at 65 miles an hour. nathan is from indianapolis and had lived in arizona when we were building my bike. he always spoke of wanting a chopped ride... he got an old sporty somewhere and immediately stripped it down to all he needed. the package came with a frame i believe, none the less. he built it with his uncle cousin (dont ask me) they built the bike right before nathan moved back out to the los angeles area and had it shipped shortly after he got there. nathan said he was trying to somewhat dodge a pothole and laid it down on the left side and it needs everything from the head light to a new tail light and everything in between. tank, pegs, levers, fork tubes, new rim and tire, fender struts, etc... he on the other hand escaped less harmed with some burns on his butt.. in speaking with nathan, he attributed his slam and lack of injuries to skateboarding and knowing more than the next guy how to fall properly.
the car behind him that watched it happen, stopped to see if he was all right. they said, as nathan was standing back up, "we thought you were dead or not getting back up!" nathan exclaimed "im alright, i skateboard!" glad youre up nathan... get that bike rebuilt and keep it on two wheels... oh yeah, he was on his way back form the dice party, like i said earlier... after the slam, he still managed to keep ahold of his copy of the new mag that was tucked in the back of his pants... golden..
